# Can Claude read Douyin?

Yes, once you connect it to an MCP server that reads Douyin, such as SocialToAI: paste one address, sign in and press Allow. On its own it gets little: the platform's robots.txt does not name Claude's fetcher, and a short video's page holds little text. Connected, it reads videos and comments, from 2 credits a call.

## On its own

The platform's robots.txt names many fetchers, ChatGPT's and Perplexity's among them; it does not name Claude's, and it has no rule for fetchers it does not name.

Douyin's open platform provides video data for users who authorise the app: the video list endpoint needs the user's authorisation and a permission applied for in the developer console. No endpoint for reading any public video or profile is documented.

## Connect Claude

- In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Customize → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- Name it SocialToAI, paste the address and add it. Leave the advanced settings empty.
- Press Connect. Sign in to SocialToAI with the code we email you and press Allow.
- Switch the connector on in a chat and ask.

> **Note** No key to copy: the connection shows up under API keys in the console, named Claude, where you can give it a daily cap or revoke it.
