# How to let ChatGPT read Xiaohongshu (RedNote)

Xiaohongshu's open platform offers sign-in only, with no API for public notes. To let ChatGPT read them, add SocialToAI's MCP server as an app in ChatGPT: paste one address, sign in and press Allow. ChatGPT can then read its notes, comments, accounts and trends, from 12 credits a call. Failed calls are free.

## Xiaohongshu's own API

Xiaohongshu's open platform currently offers login only: after the app passes review, it can read the basic profile (nickname, avatar) of users who authorise it. No API for reading public notes or comments is documented.

## Connect ChatGPT

- In ChatGPT, turn on developer mode in the settings, then create an app for a custom MCP server.
- Name it SocialToAI, paste the address, choose OAuth and create it.
- Sign in to SocialToAI with the code we email you and press Allow.
- Pick it in a chat and ask.

> **Links to notes** Link to the note, pasted as it is: the https://www.xiaohongshu.com/explore/… address from the browser, the https://www.xiaohongshu.com/discovery/item/… link the website shares (query parameters such as xsec_token are fine), a whole share text with such a link in it, or the xhslink.com short link the app copies (alone or in its share text). A short link is opened once to see which note it leads to; where it cannot be, paste the note's full link or its ID.
