nullFields Reddit cannot give

Read null as “Reddit did not give this”, not as zero. These are always null on this call:

  • formatvideo, image, text or article.
  • author.nameThe author's display name.
  • author.verifiedWhether the author is verified.
  • author.followersThe author's follower count.
  • metrics.likesLikes.
  • metrics.sharesShares.
  • metrics.collectsSaves.
  • metrics.viewsViews or plays.
  • metrics.repostsReposts.
  • imagesImage addresses.
  • hashtagsHashtags, without the #.
  • is_pinnedWhether the author pinned it.

Every item also has platform, id, ref, approx and type; the response around the items is the same on every call. Response format

What to expect.

One call returns a page of up to 25 items. When page.has_more is true, send page.cursor back as cursor for the next page; each page costs 2 credits and a cursor works for 30 minutes.
A call that runs and finds nothing is a successful call: status is "empty", items is empty, and it costs 2 credits.
On this call Reddit cannot tell a post that does not exist from one with no data: both come back as empty, and both are charged.

1 call per second per key, 5 after a purchase; going over is not charged. Rate limits

A failed call costs 0 credits and is never retried on its own. Error codes

Once connected over MCP, these questions use it.

  1. Get a page of the posts of a Reddit community by its name, hot, newest or top score first: nasa.
    call {"op":"reddit.subreddit_posts","id":"nasa"}
    2 credits
  2. Get a page of the posts of a Reddit community by its name, hot, newest or top score first: nasa, with sort set to latest.
    call {"op":"reddit.subreddit_posts","id":"nasa","sort":"latest"}
    2 credits
  3. Get the communities a Reddit user is active in by username: nasa, then for the first 3: get a page of the posts of a Reddit community by its name, hot, newest or top score first.
    call {"op":"reddit.user_subreddits","username":"nasa"}call {"op":"reddit.subreddit_posts","id":"<ref>"} × 3
    8 credits

Questions.
Short answers.

Everything on Reddit
Do I need a Reddit account or Reddit's own API access?
No. You only need a SocialToAI key. The call returns content and account information publicly visible on Reddit; you never sign in to Reddit or apply for anything there.

from all of social media.
