Can ChatGPT read Douyin?
Yes, once you connect it to an MCP server that reads Douyin, such as SocialToAI: paste one address, sign in and press Allow. On its own it gets little: the platform's robots.txt lets ChatGPT's fetchers in, but a short video's page holds little text. Connected, it reads videos and comments, from 2 credits a call.

The platform's robots.txt names ChatGPT-User, OAI-SearchBot and GPTBot and keeps them out of a few paths only, such as /follow and links with modal_id-style parameters. So a Douyin page may be open to it, but a page of a short video holds little text to read.

Douyin's open platform provides video data for users who authorise the app: the video list endpoint needs the user's authorisation and a permission applied for in the developer console. No endpoint for reading any public video or profile is documented.

Connect ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, press the plus button and choose Add custom MCP server.
- Name it SocialToAI. Under Connection, paste the address as the Server URL and choose OAuth; confirm the risk warning and select Create as a plugin.
- Install the plugin. When ChatGPT asks you to sign in, sign in to SocialToAI with the code we email you and press Allow.
- In a chat, type @, pick SocialToAI and ask.
