Can collecting Xiaohongshu data get your account banned?

It can, if the collecting runs through your own account: a tool that reads with your QR-code login or cookies acts as you, so any limit or penalty for what it reads falls on that account. Xiaohongshu's robots.txt tells fetchers it does not name `Disallow: /`. What removes the risk to your account is not using it: SocialToAI uses no account of yours, so it cannot affect your account. From 12 credits a call.

What Xiaohongshu's own files say

  • Its robots.txt lets a short list of search engines read /explore and tells every fetcher it does not name Disallow: /. robots.txt, read 2026-11-06.
  • Its open platform offers sign-in only, with no interface for reading public notes: see below.
  • Its user agreement is the one that decides what happens to an account. We have not quoted it here, because we could not read its text on the open web; read it in the app, and go by it.

Xiaohongshu's open platform currently offers login only: after the app passes review, it can read the basic profile (nickname, avatar) of users who authorise it. No API for reading public notes or comments is documented.

What going through a service does not change

  • What you do with the content is yours to answer for. Copyright in a note stays with its author, and commercial use is bound by the platform's terms and the law where you are.
  • It reads what is publicly visible. Private notes and what needs a login are out of reach.
  • Personal data needs care. Commenters are anonymous here; handle what is left with the same care.

FAQ

Will reading through you affect my Xiaohongshu account?

No account of yours is used, so it cannot affect your account. You never sign in to Xiaohongshu here.

Is a spare account safe?

It keeps your main account out of it, but the spare one is then what is at stake, and a device or number shared with your main account may tie them together. We have no figures on how often.

Can you say it will never be limited?

About your account, yes, because it is not used. About what the platform does in general, no one outside it can. If a call fails you are not charged.

Do I need to scan a QR code or copy a cookie?

No. You sign in to SocialToAI with a code sent to your email.
